Why can't we get another lawyer when this one has to be hounded to get anything done?

my hubby said he checked into it and we can't getanother lawyer. He is suing the man that crashed into him 4 years ago and my hubby has permament nerve damage in his neck and shoulder and elbow ( he's areal pleasure to live with) we are in debt from all the bills and this lawyer is taking forever for anything to happen.

Answer:
FYI most lawyers take forever for everything.

everyone thinks cases happen like they do on TV. its not a fast process by any stretch of the imagination. and keep in mind, you are not the only client and the other attorney has other issues. attorneys and courts are busy and things don't happen overnight. you can get another lawyer.
I don't know why, but it happened to us too. It sucks. I feel sorry for you. Good luck!
LAWYERS COPS POLITICIANS CANT BE TRUSTED
You'll have to wait longer if you change lawyer most case can take 5 to 10 years.
In a civil law suit, you absolutely can get another lawyer. However, if the lawyer you have is being paid for by the insurance company, if you get a new lawyer, you may have to pay for it yourself.

Also, before you blame your lawyer, there may be many other reasons why things are dragging out. The other side could be stalling or playing procedural games. The court schedule may be backed up. Not everything is always the fault of one person, and your lawyer may not have any control over what is causing the delays.

So, yes, you can get another lawyer, but it may not help.
There is no legal reason you can't retain any lawyer you wish, as long as the lawyer is willing, and you have the money to hire them.
