Don't look here for lawyers, but what you can do is send a certified/registered letter to them telling them to stop contacting you by phone. If they make the mistake of calling you again -- after you get the notice back from the post office that they received it -- you can sue them for harassment and for violating the law. Go to the FTC website and you will find answers to your questions and a form that you can fill out to report these people. Also, get your cell phone number changed and let the phone company know that you don't want any calls forwarded to a new number. Then don't give it out to anyone except friends or people you want to talk to. Never call them from a cell, if they have caller ID they will have that number for future abuse. Never put your cell phone down as a contact number for a business either because it can then be shared with anyone else who that company does business with. They use it because they can reach and harass you anytime they please. Also they are not allowed to make calls to anyone other than the person who owes the money except to get a phone number or address and are restricted from calling more than once. This is all spelled out at the FTC website listed below. I hope this helps
file a complaint with the do not call group.
tell them this is not his number and that they are to cease and desist IF they call back after this, take notes and names of ALL that call you.....tell them that if they call again then you will be taking legal action.
Also make sure you note the TIME they call, there is very strong laws on the times that any bill collector can call you.
Just a thought here but how did they get your number, and if your man has this many bills unpaid at this moment are you really ready to have your name etc linked to this credit nightmare...not judging just some food for thought really

That happened to me once when I allowed someone to use my phone as an answer phone. They finally made me so angry that I told them "Don't you ever call this number again." They stopped at that point. I think there is part of some law that prevents them doing it after they've been told not to.
I'd do a background check on your Fiance.. see how much trouble she is or was in. Going into a marriage with someone that is totally fiscally irresponsible is not a good idea.
Be prepared the next time they call with the rules of the Fair Debt Collection Act: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/cred...
