Can I get permit for a handgun if I signed something saying I can't own a gun after I got out of a mental hosp
I want to become a armed security guard, but I went to a mental hospital and signed a paper saying that I can't own a gun for 5 or 7 years. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can take it to court and fight it because I wasn't a serious threat to myself. Anybody know how I can get that cleared from my file?

I'd go to a lawyer and see what you can do. There is a federal law that prevents people with some mental conditions from owning or using a firearm. While that law is there for good reasons, if you are now mentally competent, you might be able to get back your right. Perhaps there is a review process. LIS, see a lawyer. You can usually get a free consultation if you contact your local Bar Association.
Good chances, there not going to. That's why they made this law. Find a lawyer, that might be your only chance. The fact that they made you sign sounds like the had a real reason whatever is was fear of you putting yourself in grave danger or other people.
Catching always comes before hanging. And if you don't mention it they probably wont check it. Our system is mostly bluff. Don't tell them you was in a loony-bin.
go to a lawyer who alone may help u get one .
