Are personal ethics and legal ethics distinct?

Answers:
I give you a star for this question. First one I have given in over 2,700 questions. I note you have gone three days without an answer to a fundamental and important question. That is sad. The first principle is that you can not legislate morality. That has been known since the time of the ancient Greeks. Yet legislators still try to everybody's disadvantage.
Of course you can define legal ethics as the code lawyers practice. No matter, there are still plenty of things that are immoral that are not illegal. The law is by its nature imperfect.
