Calling 911 on somebody that cuts me off driving?
i was driving along and you know the story, somebody cut me off.
i've heard in the past that i can call 911 on them and register a complaint against his license plate. does anybody know if i have to show up in court if i do this? i don't want to meet up w/ whoever does such stupidity.
i'm just looking for a way i can make them to think before doing it again. if you know of a way to fight and run away to live and fight another day, please reply.
i hate road rage
Answer:
Don't Call 911! call the non-emergency number. and usually you'll just have to give them the licence plate number.
you can call - but it would be better to contact the highway patrol.
here in california - we actually have a telephone number to report this behavior.
good luck
Don't waste 911's time calling them because you got cut off. It's selfish. Write down the non-emergency number to the highway patrol and use that if you must.
911 = Emergencies only. Is being cut off an emergerncy? No
I would say that you would be wasting the 911 operator's time for just a bad driver.
You might be able to call the sheriff or city police's non-emergency number to report his plate number.
911 is an emergency number and someone cutting you off is not an emergency unless they are pointing a gun at you or are chasing you all over town.
Depending on what state you live in,the law varies.I know in California, you can report the offending license number to the D.M.V.,and they will follow up with an investigator depending on the seriousness of the incident.
yes, you can call 911 to someone whos a danger on the road-i.e. may cause an accident. Especially if the driver appears to be driving like he/she is intoxicated. By calling 911, Police will be dispatched on the scene--hopefully the Police gets there and issue the guy a summons (it's only a moving violation) ..however, if the person is indeed an intoxicated driver---then he will be arrested! and you dont even have to be a witness or a complainant--hes an automatic arrest!
Unfortunately, we have to learn how to be cautious by defensive driving.cuz some people just think they can drive and they own the road! I hate them too----I been to an accident where someone did cut infront of me---and stopped short--which resulted me to rear end his car costing me money!
When I lived in California, I used to get real angry at people when they cut me off, and I let them know it. Then, when people began carrying guns in their cars and randomly shooting at people on the freeway, I got real mellow and just smiled and waved at the person who cut me off.
What makes me the angriest about your question is your self-righteousness. Have you never cut anyone off by mistake? I have accidently cut people off and I felt terrible about it. If someone reported me for it, I would consider that person immature and petty. Get over it. People don't always do offensive things on purpose. Have you ever made a mistake? Did you feel intimidated by being cut off? Do you think it was deliberate & you feared for your life? Did you ever think that it might be a stressed out mom whose baby is screaming in the back seat. Maybe she got distracted and missed her turn. Maybe she didn't see you because she wasn't paying attention. You want her to get in trouble with the law for that? What's wrong with you? You think it's stupidity for someone to accidently cut you off? Can you prove they did it on purpose? You said that you don't want to meet up with woever does such stupidity. Bull. You're a coward.
I don't know of a way to fight & run because that is only what spineless wimps do. You just want to make someone else's life miserable. Just like you made mine with your ignorant question. Grow up & get some balls. Have the sense to know that you're not perfect, and have the courage to smile & say: "that's ok" when someone else screws up.
Are you one of those high and mighty, judgmental christians?
911 is for emergencies, it's not for traffic incidents.
