Crimes commited by children under age 18?

I'm doing a paper about 'Should parents be responsible for crimes commited by their underaged child?' I need people's points of view.
Which side are you on? And what are your reasons? Thanx for the help!

Answer:
Although I'm sure parents are indirectly responsible, the actual crime is a result of the child's actions, and the child should be the one who accepts the responsibility and consequences, otherwise, how else would the child learn that there are consequences to actions (because obviously the parents haven't taught them that - which is the indirect responsibility part)

see that's one of those unanswerable questions...

i know a family in which the parents are good parents they have tried to teach their kids the difference between right and wrong. the parents are generally good law abiding citizens but their son is a jerk, he steals, vandalizes, breaks into houses etc.
in that situation the blame really falls on the boy because he war raised better than that but if his parents hadn't tried to teach him, like if they encouraged him or gave him gifts that were stolen than he wouldn't know any different so then the blame would partially fall on the parents.
but unfortunately without stereotyping the parents based on income, class, color etc. than we wouldn't be able to tell how much blame to put on them.
so yes some blame should be on the parent but a set amount would be difficult to decide
