Should Georgia's "no alcohol sales on Sunday" law be changed?
Are there any other states in the U.S. that still prohibit alcohol sales on Sundays? To me this law seems outdated and useless as everyone rushes to the liquor store on Saturday night to buy out whatever they can get their hands on.
Answers:
yes totally out dated...i am not religious so why do i have to suffer for some lunatics who don't want to drink on a day off.Michigan and Indiana have the same problem as far as i know.
LOL go to Clarksville Arkansas..ahah oh and btw it doesnt matter if it should..cuz it won't you're in the BIBLE BELT. I'd move..yeah good Idea move.
Yes! Alcohol should NEVER be allowed to be sold.
Wait... what?! You can't buy liquor on a Sunday? Thats LAME! Sucks for you
Parts of Kansas are just now allowing Sunday sales. The state allowed Sunday sales a few years back, but some of the local cities are fighting it. Also those same cities are trying to prohibit public smoking.
Oklahoma doesn't allow Liquor stores to be open on Sunday, bars have limited hours, and some cities don't even allow alcohol to be sold. And until the politicians stop allowing the Religious "Right" to dictate what the US laws should and shouldn't be it wont change.
Yea I think it should be changed because of Separation of Church and State. I don't think it is right to use Sundays as a non alcohol day. What makes it different from any other day. Other than for religious reasons. It is not right to impose a non drinking day on a religious day. I don't really know if i am getting my point across
I live in Wichita, ks and only a few months ago Kansas also had dry Sundays, then laws were passed leaving it up to individual cities, eventually I could drive 20 minutes and buy on Sunday but just a few weeks ago Wichita joined the trend and Sunday liquor sales are now allowed, although most stores only open from noon to 5 and some till 8. The first 2 weeks sales were up but recently have leveled off. The liquor stores are surprisingly not thrilled about the law change because they still make about the same amount of money but now they have to open an extra day costing them labour and utilities.
Personally I'm happy because relatives tend to come in on sunday and its nice to be able to just grab some beer. I was always bad about forgetting to pick up extra, or when I did we would drink it all saturday anyways. So personally I really appriciate it especially after living my whole life with sunday being dry.
Make the vendors who carry alcohol purchase a special Sunday permit. The state will see the xtra dollars and they won't mind so much the sunday sales.
All I have to say is thank god I live in Nevada, everywhere else has something called last call
Why would alcohol sales be banned on Sunday? First, someone's religion says that. The government is there to protect people from force. No one's irrational faith can force anyone to do anything. Second, more practically speaking, if you have a hangover Monday morning your productivity at work will probably go down. This is just another economic control which places "the common good" over the individual.
