Concealed handgun law meaningful?
Assume (hypothetically) that I carry a handgun concealed WITHOUT a permit/license, that I obtain the equivalent training required for obtaining such a permit/license, AND that I abide the law in every other respect. If it is completely concealed, so that I don't imply its presence on my person by external physical evidence, by my words or by my behavior, then does the concealed handgun law have any meaning (solely in and of itself)? A policeman would have no reason to search me or arrest me, and no one would be the worse off for it, especially as opposed to having the permit/license. In fact, any punishment imposed as a result of not having this permit/license would be as a result of police discovery of the weapon on the person of a citizen sustaining the law in the presence of criminal activity of others. What kind of meaning is ther in such a law?
Answer:
.Assuming the person concealing the weapon follows this criteria, no harm no foul. The intent of this law is to limit the amount of weapons carried in the general public. You may not plan to use your weapon, but not everything goes as planned. Secondly, Why would the concealer need to carry his weapon, unless he thought he would eventually need to use it?
Most laws are the same way. A robber goes into a convenience store and steals money. If he doesn't get caught, he doesn't get punished. It doesn't mean we shouldn't have a law saying you're not allowed to rob a store. It's like any law we have. By concealing a handgun, you're breaking the law, but if you don't get caught, you don't get punished. Most people wouldn't do the illegal act to begin with because they don't want to get punished. Getting away with it doesn't make the actual law meaningless.
if you have a legal permit and don't committ any crimes with your weapon you'll be ok, but the police DO have the right to search you if they can establish cause. technically under the second ammendment anyone who is 21 or older, is a legal citizen and not a criminal can have a gun but you still need the conceal and carry permit. It's for your own protection and you still need to use your brain before you use a weapon. I'd rather learn to handle myself without a weapon before I got a handgun.

It has the same meaning as the law against murder. I didn't kill my neighbor today so is the law against murder meaningful? Of course it is. It's the law. It's part of the code that civilized humans have agreed to follow. If there is a law against carryng a weapon in effect in your area and you carry a weapon illegally, you are breaking the law whether or not you get caught. And, all the sophomoric, philosophical pig-squat you spout here doesn't make any difference when you're standing before that judge.
I think you're missing the big picture ... IT IS STILL AGAINST THE LAW. You can equivocate and justify all you want, but that will never make it legal. If you don't agree with the law thats fine ... everyone is entitled to disagree, but you do not have the right to do whatever you want simply because you disagree.
Also, if you really do obtain all the training and experience necessary to obtain and concealed weapons permit than why not just apply for one ... thats called just being flat out lazy/stupid.
