If a teacher sexually molests a child in school, and if the teacher is a beautiful woman, the courts assume that the child was seduced by her beauty, and let her off with slap on wrist. If the teacher is ugly, the courts assume no one wants to see that ugly mug, so lock it up for 20 years.
When a person is arrested for drunk driving, makes all sorts of anti-semitic remarks to the police, that person is let off with a slap on the wrist, because the nation wants to see the next great movie they produce.

Most states treat DUI (driving under the influence) as misdemeanors for the first couple of offenses. If the person continues to drive illegally, then the charges are treated as felonies.
She will loose her license for a few months, but that seldom works at correcting the problems involved.
In other words, Lohan is going to get serious jail time soon if she doesn't shape up.
If you don't like the fact that drunk drivers are treated lightly, complain to your representatives in the state capitol.

I would recommend a review of the charging documents and any plea bargains. She is not the only one that can cut a deal. If you have a good lawyer, things go your way. You have to be able to afford that good lawyer.
