Answers:
Medicaid
WIC-assists women with children of low income (basic needs)
Illinois has a "Link" card (replaced food stamps-same concept).

Welfare is basically help and support from the country that you live.
Yes, I think these are commonly thought of as welfare. Others that my state gives out are subsidized rent, help in paying utilities, and Medicaid--health care for children--not Medicare this depends on contributions from your income. Also SSI disability, a disability payment that is not dependent on years at work as SSA disability is. Oh, and WIC, Women and infant children.

That's all I can think of.
welfare helps poor or low income people feed their families. Despite the fact that my ex is in iraq, I have 3 kids, 2 are autistic, and child support is being witheld by the military.welfare won't help me. And being on welfare makes you feel less than proud. Did I mention...I don't qualify?
