Is it possible to have been charged with a Lvl 2 sex offense and have it expunged?

This person is in the Marine Corps, and says that when he was 18, he was brought up on charges for raping a girl who was 16, but she went into court and confessed it was consensual, and that she had lied about her age. Is it possible he is a Lvl 2 sex offender, and still in the Marine Corps, or is it possible that it could have been expunged, since she confessed?

Answers:
How does he not know?

Sex offenders generally are not let into the military.

False accusations don't get expunged, because no crime took place. There's no conviction to clear. It may well be in his record that charges were dropped due to recantation by the plaintiff.

Highly unlikely to happen, part of every sex offenders sentence is to be registered. And that would make it virtually impossible to happen.
