Answer:
It isn't the schools responsibility that your Ipod was stolen. If you bring an expensive item to school with you,it isn't their fault if it gets stolen. Check the papers that your parents signed at the beginning of the year, there is probably a clause in there that relieves them of responsibility for lost or stolen articles. Best advice is,if you don't want something stolen, don't take it to school. Why would you need an Ipod in school anyway?
You can try to report it to the police, but without proof and after all this time there probably isn't anything they can do either.
Hard lesson to learn. I never let my son take anything of value to school with him.
Why don't you and your family talk to the liberal girl herself? After she puts the bong down, grab your iPod and run from their shack with it. Justice is not being done here.
We have had several taken from our schools this past year. Report the theft to the local law enforcement agency responsible for your school. If you have the receipt and/or serial number and a suspect, the police should be able to match it to the iPod she has and, at the very least, get your iPod back, if not arrest her (if you wish to press charges).
The school didn't do anything because it's your responsibility to safeguard your property. Unless she mugged you for it, it's your problem. File a police report, gather evidence and take her to small claims court. That's what you should have done about it. If you can't afford to lose it, don't take it to school.
From what you say, it sounds like nobody had enough evidence that she took it. A dent on the back really isn't much of an ID. Nobody saw her steal it, nobody heard her admit she stole it, and you don't really know that she transferred just to get away from you.
When you take expensive items to school, where you don't have a secure place to keep them and they aren't needed for your education, you are risking losing them to thieves and carelessness.
Leave your valuables at home!
When it happened you should have reported it to the police, they would have made her prove it was hers if it is and if she couldn't they would have taken it from her and given it back if you could prove it's yours.
However, now that 7 months have past it may be too late, but you can phone the police station and ask them.
Your parents could file a police report for you, but only if you have actual proof. It doesn't sound like you have enough evidence, so forget it.
As of this writing you cannot do anything anymore since the chic that stole your ipod has already transferred to another school.
In the first place you should have told your parents about the matter the day you notice your ipod is missing, thereby informing the school and your local sheriff department of the incident, thereby the police department in your county can very well coordinate with the school administration regarding the person responsible for the said incident.
How come your principal didnot even summoned the chic that is involved in this matter? Didnot even investigate? Maybe the chic has a relative in your school(administration or otherwise), you didn't ask I suppose, that is why the incident was considered isolated case.
You can still open up the case by telling the police about your complain regarding this chic who left your school, and you should have a very CONCRETE evidence in pin pointing to the chic otherwise, the police department would just throw this case in the trash canned.
I dont really think much can be done..i dont think even the police can do much for you.
