If someone witnesses a will, does it break any laws if they discuss the content with others?
my wife was named in a will by someone ,the will was witnessed by an ex work colleague, who still works at the care home.he has since been discussing the contents of this will with other workers at the care home and my wifes name is being slandered.can we do anything about this.
Answers:
I'd certainly call the care home and discuss this with the powers that be. NO employee should discuss the personal matters of a resident - that's unethical and should be grounds for dismissal.
No. It obviously showed a lack of judgement on the part of the person that allowed a gossip to witness thier will. It's a pity that people have to be so shallow, but it's not against the law to talk about a will. Sorry.
I find it rather strange that the witness even was allowed to read the will. They are to only witness the signing and not the content. I am not an attorney, but I doubt that you could sue for that.
No because he is a witness to the will.. clearly the person who the will concerns was not worried about this person knowing anything about it.
Therefore you cannot call it slander if you do not know what he is saying is true or not. HE IS THE WITNESS
hope this helps =]
No, a witness can read what they are signing. I wouldn't sign something if I didn't know what it contained. Have you the money too sue for slander?. Sounds like the green eyed monster to me.
He should have never read the document and he may be guilty of invasion of privacy laws or confidentiality laws. I would ask a Lawyer.
