Is it legal to ride your bike on a highway- NOT AN INTERSTATE- before you can drive?

Or before you are 16??

Answer:
In the U.S. it is when your parents say it in all right.
I went 150 miles most of them on state highway. on my summer of my 16th year.
There was only one bridge I was not aloud to cross, legally.

Why would you want to ride your bike on a haghway?
Depends on the state, but most places, yes. A bicycle is subject to the same rules of the road as a motor vehicle. That said, certain roads are designated for motor vehicles only, including interstates. Check your state transportation code or with your state's department of transportation.
i wouldnt try it if i were you
A bicycle; only if there was a bike lane or a Motorcycle ( yes )
You have to follow the rules of the road and it can be dangerous. But yes, you can bike on most highways. I would pick the ones with BIG shoulders so you can be as far away from the cars as possible. A lot of them will be pissed off if you are in a lane even if you have a right to it.

Lance Armstrong once sued a guy in Austin who was raging against him and his bike being on a highway. He won.

You don't need a drivers license to ride a bike. If you are very young and on the highway, the police might stop you and ask what you are doing and if your parents know you are out there.

Look for any signage that might show a bike route or pedestrian path, and especially look for signs that say "No Pedestrians"

Sometimes, the hghway is the only way to get from point A to point B. Be safe, and wear all your protective gear. (Helmet, wrist guards, etc.)
Doesn't sound safe.

I know interstates specifically say "no pedestrians" and that would include bicycles. I'd say it would depend on what time of highway...some are 2-lane, smaller roads...if it is likea 4-lane highway...I don't think it would be safe to bike there.
