Was Mahatma Gandhi really an apostle of truth ?

Gandhiji was said to be an aposle of truth. On 1st August, 1947 he visited Srinagar, Kashmir for 3 days. Before visit he told that his visit is purely personal, not political, only to utilise the invitation of king late Pratap Singh of Kashmir in 1917 when both met at Kumbh fair. Was he going for enjoying Kashmir just 13 days before partition of India in politically very hot period despite earthquakes there from 20th July to 29 th July,1947 only to utilise the 30 year old invitation of former king ? He went by Delhi-Rawalpindi route. On the way his car was stoned by people throughout mostly in Baramulla. Prem Nath Bazaz sent him a registerd letter asking is it really a non-political visit(published in Hamdard)which was never acknowledged. After his visit Pandit Ramchandra Kak who was pro-people's causes favouring accession to Pakistan was sacked from the prime ministership & was replaced by Janak Singh who openly said,"Kashmir is a part of India." Doesn't not this show his real face ?

Answers:
Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader and in general he was lover of peace. His philosophy of peace was requirment of the time and well applauded also. Because Indians were under hard British rule. His intelligence made the people collected to independence. His efforts and character cannot be neglected from independence efforts because at that time Indian nations were just sleeping except a few muslim leader, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Maulana Mohammad Ali, Shaukat Ali etc. Gandhi was a light with these stars. A little favour for India and Hindus about Kashmir issue was natural because he was not an angle or prophet just a good man.

No youre getting mixed up with Goosey Goosey Ghandi
he was a man of PEACE
Yes, it does show his "real face." No one is a real apostle of truth.
That's a matter of opinion. Gandhi was definitely not in favor of having India split into India and Pakistan. No human being is absolutely perfect.

The man has been dead for quite some time. Why bother with debating obscure events like this?

My wife's family was forced to leave Sindh under threat of death simply because they were Hindus. They were never reimbursed by the government of Pakistan for the property they left behind. Nevertheless, we have co-workers and friends from Pakistan that we treat with no disrespect.

Why not let the past stay in the past?

If Pakistan succeeds in forcing India to give up Kashmir, what land will they take by force next?
He was a real politician. He used Satyagrah,Amhinsa nad truth as weapons. He mixed all admirably and effectively to achieve the goal.
I dont' think so. because on one in any country who dosn't tell lie in his life. Actually not only any country . In the hole world.
Do you mean Mahatma Sonia Gandhi - thats the Gandhi famous these days holding strings of her puppets - The President and the Prime Minister!!
