The neighbour who went to the wedding/marriage. January 7 was a Sunday. Weddings aren't performed on Sunday.
I guess the maid, since 7 Jan was a Sunday and the post office isn't open on Sunday. (But the post office doesn't have to be open to mail something in the outside boxes, and some open their lobbies on Sunday so people can check their personal mailbox even though the rest of the post office is closed, so it isn't a very good riddle.)
