Isn't it against the constitution for rock bands to be banned in a state?

the Mothers Against Hard Rock are trying to ban My Chemical Romance and a few other rock bands from 45 different states! its got me so pissed cuz MCR is my life! i would just lik to know if this is unconstituitonal.

Answer:
Not if a performance presents a clear & present danger (rioting, violence, etc.) GG Allin, for example, was banned from playing in many states before he died shortly after a concert. 2 Live Crew, Snoop Dogg, and Ozzy Osbourne have also been banned from performing. That's not to say I agree with banning artists from performing anywhere, but it does happen and it's legal, because they're not banned by law, but by the policies of the venue's they'd be playing at.

Just because someone is trying to do something doesn't mean it can be done.

There are groups out there that think raping little boys should be legal. Doesn't mean it's going to happen
It's part of the whole freedom of speech thing...
i would die if they banned them from illinois they are my favorite band. i doubt that happens i havent heard of any bands/artists being recently banned from states. im pretty sure its unconstitutional to ban a band that does no actual harm from an entire state.
I've never heard of any such laws in the U.S.
It's a hoax. M.A.H.R. is not real. It's a rumor that's been flying over the internet for years. Don't worry about it.

They don't even have a website. Even if they were real, MCR is not hard rock.

And, they wouldn't be able to 'ban' them. It's just not possible, so stop sweating over nothing.

Plus, there's sooo much more music out there with worse lyrics than MCR's.

The Constitution affects all 50 states. If those 45 states wanted to do something about it (if it were real) it'd be the state government, not the national government. But, since M.A.H.R. is not real, you don't have to worry about it.
against the constitution? "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility,... and do declare it illegal to ban rock bands from performing...?" Never read that in the Constitution. Anyway you're confusing federal and state laws. If they're banned in a state that's the state's business. The constitution gives states a certain amount of freedom. Anything in the constitution effects ALL states.
Pretty much, yeah. Unless they can prove that it can truly harmful, which they'll have a hard time doing anyway, it's unconstitutional. MAHR is more likely to cause riots with their campaign than any of the bands their trying to ban.
