In 1838 Abe Lincoln said...?
"Reason- cold, calculating, unimpassioned reason- must furnish all materials for our future support and defense. Let these materials be moulded into a general intelligence, sound morality, and in particular, a reverence for the Constitution and laws." Do you think he was right or wrong? Could reason alone sway voters today or can they only be convinced of a particular positions validity through emotional appeals? For those who might think this is a homework question I can only give my word that it isn't. I'm genuinely, independantly curious.
Answers:
He was correct, but unfortunately "feelings" are waaaay more important that reason in todays politics...its easier to feel than reason, after all.
