Anybody working under the Federal Govt that got Grand Jury Duty? Can they cut BC insurance & pay for lost tim

My boss has a contract with the FAA. I got selected for jury duty & she's going to cut my Blue Cross & lost time hours. Is this fair? I didn't volunteer?

Answers:
no they can't do that- an issue with your union- you will however receive compensation from the state for serving on jury duty. in ny, for exampl, the current pay rate is $40 day. for each day that you actually serve on a jury.
usually it takes a few weeks before you receive the money, and you must apply for it, but sign in every day in order that you are counted as present for further verification
you must only notify your employer of your status, as a juror, and it can't be held against you- its a part of our constitutional civic duty to serve when called.
you can, however, write, call or appear at that court and request a postponement prior to serving on the jury and they'll place your name back in the pool of registered voters they contact for jury service[ approx. 2 to 6 months]
your work benefits cannot be withdrawn or withheld because of jury duty- esp. health benefits] that's why employers allow sick leave time accumulation]
u may have to use personal days or vacation leave upon serving duty- employer specific, though.
check with your union rep, employee handbook, or your HR person at work

There is not a law that requires your employer to pay you or maintain insurance for you while you on on jury leave. If you do not work the number of hours per week that is need to qualify for insurance they will drop your insurance.
