KY amateur radio law?
OK, the school I used to go to allowed me to pack my radio as long as it didn't disturb class. (I keep it off anyway!); but this new school in KY is refusing to allow me to pack it saying it will be seized if packed. From a legal stand point am I allowed to pack it and if so, what law says so?
Some one told me that the amateur radio service is legally defined an emergency service in KY. If so, then what law says that?

With all the issues concerning schools there are codes of conduct and dress enforced just about everywhere you go!
Likewise, cellular phones and other electronics are prohibited by many schools.
I don't see why you can't just leave the radio in the car since you've already stated you leave it turned off anyway. What good does it do in the first place if you've got it turned off?!
Sounds to me like you should worry about more important issues that carrying your radio in the backpack to school!
Schools have the right to ban items that can be disruptive. Phones, pagers, mp3 players, etc, all fall under this rule. They probably are using that to cover your radio. And they have that right - you are there to learn, not to listen to or talk on the radio.
