What would u do?
Traveling out west recently, stopped at a little store on the rez,while waiting to make my purchases I overheard the owner complaining about having to close due to the minimum wage increase, not enough decent help etc. Well as I am ready to checkout I noticed a picture of the owner,rep from Anheiser Busch & a sign congradulating her for One Million Case Sold.Needless to say I walked out empty handed and disgusted. Would u have done the same?

If you were on the rez; if a store was selling booze; if there was a mandatory minimum wage increase, you were in my state. Let me tell you--I'd have walked out, too. The huge minimum wage increase was all of $7.50/hour. She's making a fortune off liquor sales, because there's no taxes on ANY of her products on the reservation (that's a generalization, but 99% true). Her remark was pure b.s. We worked on this minimum wage increase for 2 years and had NO business protests. Subsequent surveys show no decline in business. She had to be paying starvation wages (or trading booze) to have to close because of our minimum wage increase.
I'm not sure if I would have skipped shopping solely because the owner was a hypocrite -- it depends on what my other shopping options were.
But I would not visit that store by choice.
You worked hard for your money, the same way her soon-to-be former employees did.
Not sure why you were so pissed though. Is it because she sells cases of beer at rest stops to travelers who are obviously driving? Or is it because she has sold more than One Million Cases of beer but still has to close her store because of the increased labor expense?
Either way, you are justified. As an American, you have the right to give your money to whomever you chose to do business with. If something felt improper about the transaction you were about to make, you should not feel guilty about walking out.
