How can anyone be serious about voting for any candidate on the board at present?

with all of the bad things we have heard about our politicians wh are running for office this term, how the hell can anyone vote for one of these crooks? we must be in a damned bad shape to have only this kind of garbage to select from, not one of them should be allowed to even run for office,

Answers:
That is the way I feel too. There is no one as of yet, that is worth a vote. That is why when some one wants to know who we are voting for, I usually say, it is to early to make a choice. The way it is going, there is no good choice.

The worse of er... um... 20ish evils? The only decent one is Ron Paul, or maybe I just find him most amusing.
You have overestimated our political system. You have made the assumption that all former candidates and presidents were of better quality.

Have you not learned about the Watergate scandal in school yet? Or our unnecessary involvement in the Vietnam War?

Did you know the Bush Sr. supplied weapons and ammunition to the very groups we are at war with today?

Heck, even our beloved Kennedy was an accused adulterer.

You have a lot to learn about human nature and how imperfect everyone is: politicians, preachers and even you.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I like a number of the candidates, and my biggest problem is choosing among them. Feel free to stay home on election day.
What are you talking about? I'd have no problem with voting for Guiliani, Romney or Thompson. McCain would be a bit more troublesome, because of his views on immigration. I think we'll see Guiliani/Romney or Guiliani/Thompson in 08.
Two words.

Ron Paul
Well, for the Democrats, I agree. As far as I can tell, Ms. Clinton seems to be doing everything she can think of to "win" the election as early as possible. Worst yet, AFAIK, she hasn't demonstrated her /own/ ability to lead, rather has Mr. Clinton does some talking, then she runs with /his/ ideas. I'd rather my leaders think for themselves, and don't make it so obvious that they just want to win (she doesn't seem overly concerned about anything but that. Everytime I see her face, I'm reminded of OCP's policy of "PR is the only thing that matters").

Now, the Republican side isn't much better. Guliani certainly doesn't have much of the Christian vote (divorced multiple times, AFAIK pro-abortion, etc), which is most of the Republican vote. Romney I used to support until I heard of his flip-flop on abortion in the last few years. Nice to see he "saw the light" before he decided to run for president.

That being said, I'd like to see a Ron Paul/Fred Thompson ticket, because Paul's the only one who seems willing to support our right to privacy and electronic rights (my inner-nerd is happy that he'll allow me to post as an Anonymous Coward when I want, when the rest of the Reps seem to think AC's ruin the Internet, and All Your Information Belong to Us).

Although Thompson isn't officially even running, I'd support him, as his Senate career places him and Paul together as "people who stand for what they believe in". It's my opinion that in these times, we need people who stand more for what they believe in, and less for what's popular.

Of course, Paul's foreign policy seems to be "Get our people home, and secure the nation's perimeter". His stance on Iraq is that we leave and fortify our borders. A nice idea, but kind of difficult without drafting every able-bodied individual, and sending them to defend a massive border (presumably, "fortify" means secure entirely. I'd put this as "securing all 4 contiguous borders, Alaska, and Hawii's perimeter"). Aside from this massive undertaking which can easily lead to a totalitarian state (yet still, I support him because it's better than being dead (not much), and is highly unlikely. Besides, that'd give me an excuse to exercise my developing cracker-fu and whatnot :P).

Those two are the only ones whom I take seriously (and one isn't even running yet!), the rest I don't care for (a few I could write pages on how I desperately hope they never win). It's definately my hope that the two I "endorse" win (or at least campaign hard enough to put up a fight. I hadn't even heard of Ron Paul until a few weeks ago).
