Do you think for-profit health care facilities should not be eligible for federal funding?
Many for-profit health care facility CEO’s pay themselves half a million dollars to multi million dollar annual salaries in addition to 20% tax free Christmas bonus’ and hefty benefit packages, and then claim huge losses at the end of each year. They claim a need for federal funds to keep the doors open and will short staff nursing personal at unsafe levels to create the illusion is crisis in those communities.
This means that all profits are divided amongst the CEO of each of these facilities and they apply for federal funding that will pay all their basic expenses. Does anyone other than me see this as the bulk of our healthcare problem?
Shouldn’t for profit institutions be required to make a profit before the CEO’s get paid? Wasn’t that the intention of passing a bill in 1988 that allowed healthcare institutions to be for profit?

Agreed. Furthermore, they shouldn't be allowed to take Federal and state money via well fare or entitlement recipients.
You're right, but no, that was not really the intention of the bill. That was just what they wanted the public to think it was.
I was a teenager then, and with nurses and doctors in the family and hanging around hospitals a lot, all I heard at the time was how this was going to ruin healthcare in this country. What else could have happened when the requirement for having to be a licensed physician before you could run a hospital was taken away? Now they are all mostly run by greedy businessmen with zero medical knowledge. Go figure.
