Can a company charge you for answering a phone call from them?
Fair enough you can be charged for reverse call charges and for answering a caller from abroad but can a company calling YOU sneak any extra charges on you without you knowing. Anyone ever experienced this?
Answers:
I have never heard of this in the UK except in cases where you pick it up and there is an answer phone message on the end (in which case if you put it down straight away you shouldnt be charged) - but we do have sneaky companies who use SMS or text messages to charge you. Also in the UK we have the TPS (Telephone Preference Service or something) which you can register on for free and then no one should ring you.
No, they would have to ask you if you accept the charges.
yes it happened to me. i got a call from the shuttle. apparently one of the astronauts forgot to pay his cell bill so they pulled over on a meteor and used a pay phone . well long story short they called me collect but they tricked me into accepting the call. when the bill came in i was shocked, $143.890.95 for 3 minutes!
why do you ask this question have you been billed?
