Did you know convicted criminals are given medical treatment that costs billions of dollars?

Answer:
They do so because they are required to do so under the Eighth Amendment of the US Constitution. Not providing them medically necessary treatment would be a violation of the Eighth Amendment Right against cruel and unusual punishment.

They are only following the requirements of the Constitution.

Yes I did know that and it pisses me off.
Did you know that so do the criminals on death row? self-defeating isn't it?
Yes, I know...isnt' that just the most stupid thing and the perfect example of how screwed up our government is. It is just ridiculous that criminals behind bars can get free access to health care, but that the honest hard working Americans who don't happen to receive health benefits from their employer are left out in the cold. I think it is also sad that those on welfare, who don't work and don't pay taxes also get free healtcare, or at least receive it at very nominal rates. But my husband who is self employed and pays taxes on time can't get anything to help our family. If we want health insurance we have to pay $600 per month, and even then it only covers 70 to 80 percent of the charges. So my family is just left playing russian roulette that nothing serious goes wrong because either way, we can't afford it.
Well, it would be inhumane to just allow them to get sick and die. The real crime is that ALL citizens aren't guaranteed medical care.
Yea well they still have rights and if they're imprisoned the government foots the bill. Did you know were in a war that costs 10 billion dollars a month??
