Should we applaud Mike Vick for pleading guilty?
IMO, it doesn't make what he did any better, but at least he's taking responsibility for his actions instead of waging a drawn-out legal battle.
Answers:
No, because he is only looking out for his best interest. It has nothing to do with him being sorry or remorseful.
He's just looking out for himself. He knows the evidence is ridiculously strong and he wants less time.
it is a breath of fresh air to hear someone say "yes, I did it ... and I will face the consequences"
but I'm not going to applaud something that should be done anyway
now if we could just get the rich white politicians to do it
This case shows how weak our legal system is. They say he will only get 1 year in prison and probably only serve 10 months. What a crock!! The maximum sentence for this crime is 5 years. If I were the prosecutor, I would have offered Vick a plea deal of 3 years. If he declined, I would have gone for the full 5 years with a conviction. Also, after pleading guilty to a felony, he should be banned from the NFL for life.
Absolutely not. Why should be applaud someone who obviously committed a crime. Just because he admitted it doesn't make his crime any less serious.
He can't even make make an apology from his heart. Instead, he needs his lawyer to write an apology for him.
These athletes are weak...
Most lawyers encourage their clients to plead guilty to avoid trial and to get a reduced sentence.
I don't see why I should applaud him when he was following his lawyer's legal advice. Because he followed his lawyers advice, it shows he was looking for the easy way out of the situation and not face the FULL consequences of his actions.
