It depends. Yes, they will run a warrant check, but it is usually within the county or state you are currently living in. However, in order to protect yourself, you might not want to list your previous address as being in the area where you have an outstanding warrant. Use a friend's address and say you lived there. If it's a misdemeanor warrant, you probably don't have much to worry about. IF they were to arrest you, the other state would have 72 hours to come pick you up, or they would have to release you. Unless it's a felony, most states won't bother making the trip. If you have moved to a state that borders the one where you have a warrant, that could be more problematic if you have a felony warrant, they might do a record search in that state (if they know you lived there) and the other state may be willing to come and get you, especially if it's a violent felony or a distribution or manufacturing of drugs charge.
Just know, that once you are listed in their system and if the state where you have the warrant has an inkling that you might move there, they could find out your location.
They (DMV) run a check on you and if you have any warrants they will usually catch it.
