If you support abortion, would it be fair if a male made the decision that you should against your wishes?

I do not believe in wanton killing myself, but if a woman became pregnant and the law allows her to have a abortion, no questions asked, what if the father declared he didn't want any children and he refuses to be financially responsible for the child? Wouldn't it be sexual discrimination for anyone to go against his wishes if he didn't want any genectic offspring in the world? I ask this question because if the law ever allows broad based abortions, women might someday get a law that will be hard to swallow.

Sorry I don't remember the details, but there is such a thing as a man legally disclaiming all responsibility for an unborn child. You have to dig deep to find the details. Start by googling "men's abortion rights"

Like you said, it is way unfair that a 5 minute mistake on a man's part can be used by a woman to give him 18 years of hell, at her discretion. The woman has a choice of declaring her partner a father even if she cheated. She has a choice of an abortion. She has the choice of dragging him through courts and taking his money. The man has...umm.

Try this one:

A man gets raped, and ends up paying for child support...he was too drunk, and not conscious when the girl got pregnant!

we better not ever have laws against women swallowing
Abortion is about womens reproductive rights... men have it much too easy to have a say on the matter. Sorry kid, you don't have a point.
The father's position can not be legally binding on the mother; he doesn't have to carry the pregnancy.
The basis for a woman's legal right to abortion is that it is her body and, thus, her decision as to whether to carry a child to term. There is no legal basis for a man to compel her to abort if she does not wish to do so. It is unlikely that any court would uphold a law giving the man the right to do so. He cannot "refuse" to be financially responsible as he participated in the conception. You play, you pay.
I see your point. However, ultimately it is the woman's body. I would be more likely to support a law that would prevent a woman from getting an abortion if the man wanted the child - provided the man was willing to take custody of the child upon its arrival into this world. I think these issues wouldn't be so prevalent if people could just keep their legs closed prior to marriage! Not that I can judge because I got pregnant before marriage also - when I was 18.
If a man doesn't wish to be responsible for a child, he has the ability to sock up his sperm or get a vasectomy. Women don't become pregnant alone.

If you don't want either on a personal level - glove your love, baby - and this question would be moot.

Abortion is a reproductive choice - Vasectomy and tubal ligation are reproductive choices, birth control is reproductive choice.

Abortion is not wanton killing.

Once a child is BORN you cannot decide (any more than a mother can) that you do not want to be responsible outside of placing the child up for adoption.
you bring up a good point..but bottom line..its HER body..and only she can agree to have a medical procedure done
The consideration as to whether a pregnancy and resulting child is desired, for a man, is one to be considered before engaging in consentual sex. Prior to conception, men who do not wish to bear the responsibility of fatherhood have several choices... wear a condom, use a female condom, have a vasectomy, make sure your parter is using b/c of some sort of has had a tubal ligation, or simply refuse to have unprotected sex with anyone. The instances of women "tricking" men to get pregnant, or pregnancies following properly utilized birth control methods is much lower than many think.

Anything that happens after conception happens with/to the woman's body and it is her decision as to what medical risks she's willing to take, either by having an abortion or carrying a child to term. Period. Nope, no sexual descrimination there at all. Both parties have choices.
Until the male population grows a uterus and is able to become pregnant, his opinion doesn't count concerning abortion.

If a man doesn't want to be a father, then he needs to use condoms. If he chooses not to use protection, he knows the possible consequences. Once he has had unprotected sex, he has no further say in the matter.

If a man doesn't want the responsibility of a child and of paying child support, he will protect him self by having safe-sex. If he doesn't - child support and the responsibility of a child is the price he pays for his "fun". These are totally his decisions..nothing after conception is.
if the man doesn't want the resulting child, he can terminate his rights after the birth.
