Is this legal?

I was sharing a bank account with my girlfriend and child support tried to freeze her account for child support. I pay my monthly child support every month they have no reason to freeze an account I'm not even on, What can I do??

Answer:
No, it's not legal. It's just your ex-wife probably supplying false information to the authorities.

Have the girlfriend call CS and firmly tell them to unfreeze her private assets else she'll report them to the police.

Dude, child support is merciless, no one has ever stopped them. My suggestion is run, disappear, lay low for a while.

All child support want to know is the money you have access to. Believe it or not, as long as you have access to it, then your kid should have access to a percentage
If you share it (co-mingle your funds with hers) yes, they can freeze it. If they have reason to (arrears, etc.)
First you state you share it. then you say your not on it, well which is it.

To answer your question, no if you are up on your child support they can't freeze your assets.
It depends on the State you live in. Common Law might have come into play. When you reside with someone and live as though you are married, Common Law states you are married. Example, if your girlfriend and you split, and there is a disagreement on property, accounts, etc. your going to go through a court proceeding as a "Married" couple. If your ex has a attorney, this is probably the element of law they are using. Your going to need an attorney.
If you and she share an account, they have frozen YOUR account, she just happens to be on it.

They don't freeze assets of fathers who are current with child support and who makes regular payments as the court has ordered.

She is very foolish to tie her money with yours... You are foolish to tie yours with hers.

Not being married, neither of you have any protection agains this sort of thing.

To straighten it out, pay up your arrearages and make regular payments like you are supposed to or they'll attach your wages next.
If your not married keep your things seperate from gf.
