Respect the Flag?
I find it disrespectful when athletes, competitors and others
drape the U.S. flag around themselves like a blanket after a victory!
Who started this stupid tradition?

I also find it very disrespectful too. Also clothes made out of a flag or to look like our flag.I see no point in doing this.It certainly does not impress me or make me believe they love their country anymore than anyone else.An attention getter.
you know a large amount of flags are made by prison inmates. i don't think any one person started this.
So how do you feel about flags being flown at night, or in the rain? If the etiquette concerning flags were adhered to, most publicly displayed flags should be cermonially destroyed as a matter of respect.
What's wrong with an athlete draping their flags? That shows that they are proud to be American, that the victory belongs to an American... Of all the things an athlete can do after victory, and the first thing they do is grab that flag and wave it around to show others that there are still Americans that are very proud of their Country...
What's disrespectful about it if they win for the United States? The only time I've ever seen that is during the Olympics and other international competitions, and they do it when athletes from other countries do the same thing.
But I still don't get what is disrespectful about any of it.
