Sex Offender Law?
Does anyone know what the law is against sex offenders when they are released from prison? Where can and cant they go?
Answers:
Sex offenders should net be released from prison in the first place.
They have ridiculously high rates of recidivism.
Demand that your legislators enact laws with much longer prison terms for sex offenders.
it could depend upon the laws of the individual states. Where I live, I could log onto the computer, go to the website for the sheriffs office and the rules are all spelled out. Therefore, I suggest you go to your city or towns website - the section for legal and law enforcement information. If you are unable to locate it, call your local sheriffs office and you should get the info you are seeking. Good luck.
every state has different laws {rules} check with your local police department
Like the other answer stated.. the sheriff in each county keeps a record of all sex offenders and their websites are reasonable current. however, when they are released from prison, there are some pretty severe restrictions. In Ohio, they can't live within 1000 feet of a school. Pretty stupid law considering you can walk 1000 feet in about 3 minutes. They can't have jobs involving children, and in general, avoid children completely.
Check with the sheriffs department website in the county where you live and find the individual you are looking for. Then, you will see the restrictions you are looking for.
This all depends on the state you live in. I used to live in Washington and they couldn't go so far from schools and parks included living near them. The public had no warning of what level they are and where they live. I now live in Arizona and I get post cards ever so often when there is one living in my area and it includes allot of information on it including address. its all about what state you live in on how much information you can get. Some states still donut have a online sex offender list you can look at but most states do. As well as how long they have to register is within the state laws as well. You really need to be more descriptive about what you want to know since not all states are the same it can very from state to state.
I think that is a individual State statute that you can inquire about by typing: State Statutes (your state) into the address bar. Check criminal law tab then find sex offender registration and procedures etc.
In most states they are not allowed near schools or playgrounds. They also have to register with the sex offender registry, so you can look them up and see where they live in your area. Go to www.findlaw.com to look up your state to get specifics as to where they can or cannot go.
It varies by state. Some have minimun distances a person must stay away from certain locations if the offender was convicted for child molestation. Some make all offenders register where they live. Some have "no contact with the victim" provisions. Some cities and counties add additional restrictions. There is no uniform set of laws that applies to everyone nationwide.
To find out what the laws are where you live, you have to look at your state's statutes and your county's and city's local ordinances.
Ditto.
Contact your local Sherriff or Police Dept.
And if you find one where he or she shouldn't be...don't confront the infividual.
Report him or her to the police.
