I am much encouraged by the range of answers in my 2 questions above, although, Nothing short of a radical overhaul of the legal system could make me have ANY faith in it again.

However, I am mindful that perhaps the FAIR way to choose a best answer here is to leave it to the Community to make THE decision here - YOU can be my jury.

Read answers carefully, digest their words and cogitate over them and reach the appropriate verdict here.

My jury is open to ALL.. irrespective of race, religion or gender.

ALL I ask is you read each answer carefully, think about the answer BEFORE making your decision.

ok
If a learned judge saw fit to refer the matter, after initially being reluctant to do so, one would think that the matter would be pursued to a conclusion. Perhaps the truth is that the government feared the accused juror could not receive a fair trial.

I do not think the justice system needs an overhaul. The politicans just need to write the laws and then let the legal eagles and beaks get on with it. In other words, the pols can keep their nebs out of something that doesn't concern them. Every day, up and down the country, justice is dispensed fairly and wisely without political interference. What does that tell you?

Frankly, I'm glad I'm the other side of the Pond these days.
The jurors are selected from the voters list and ensures as much as is practical the best option
