Can you buy an island and make your own rules?
is there any island you can buy and make your own rules? any island that is away from other territories and abide by no form of goverment but your own? i know that the UN has rules but is every part of the world completely under other nations jurisdicition? is there a place i can buy and make my own rules but abide by UN rules.

Basically if you buy your own island you can make your own rules...unless you get caught. The only territory not controled by the UN is one country in upper west africa.
An island can be bought but only for private ownership. Thus, the government has jurisdiction over it.

i saw this prog where they show this artist who bought an island and make it his island. he will go there for holiday. now it's open for public with his own rules.

I have often wished I could go build an Island-like one of those offshore rigs, maybe mounted to one of those underwater hills that comes almost to the surface. That way it would not belong to another government already.

I would be very surprised if there was a single piece of land above sea level anywhere on the globe that is not claimed by a particular country.
Simply because by claiming the land, you then get fishing and mineral rights surrounding that land.
There are heaps of privately "owned" islands but they ultimately have to report to the sovereign nation that gives them the right to purchase it. The degree of autonomy given by the soveriegn nation varies.
The last privately owned islands that I know of, that did not report to any authority, are the Cocos (Keeling) islands in the Indian Ocean. They were granted to the CluniesRoss family by Queen Victoria in the 1850s and run as a private company until about 1955 when Australia took them over.

1 am 13 and i thougth this one year before, my dad told me that you can buy island, but that will be still under control of government, as the land where your house is build, which is our land but main owner is goverment.
And secondly it will cost you alot and no citizen is able to get that, even bill gates, even if someone gets, he or she wil never like, to allow people to live there, he / she will make house, factories etc over there.
And yes, the island you will buy will have to be occopied by any government (unles you discover your own, which is not possible becuse usa have discovered all by settlite)
After you will buy island that goverment will interfare in that, or just will send army, take you and your island!
