What could/will happen if two teens were to get in a fight? At school and not at school?

first of all im a senior in HS. I know fighting is wrong and bad. but this guy is my girlfriends ex and they broke up because he abused her. now me and her are dating and he hit her again which got me f***ing pissed. I want to fight him but i am still logical and all and want to know the consequences for my actions before I do it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Answers:
fighting isnt the problem i wouldnt fight for a girl, best yet is keep her away from them make your life adventures take her out and spoil her. That will make her ex look stupid and he'll wonder why he couldnt get a girl.. It will haunt him later not now, trust me he is still a teenager he doesnt have a life.

You gotta be a role model and example, if you fight him you would only embarrass yourself from making any friends. A real man doesnt fight he'll stand up make him look stupid because he knows how to treat a woman.

Or do like most idiots do most Call Dr Phil my ***.
he is all about being unfair

Will the worse you can go to jail,so take her to the police an sign a warrant on his but an she can have him charged with assult
She obviously keeps "seeing" the guy. You shouldn't stick your neck out for her.
What she needs to do, if he hit her, is file a police report. So, has she done that, and if not, why not?
