Question about PA consumer protection...I purchased a rug from a store (off the shelf)...?

...two days later I had to return it...ever opened it...I lost the receipt. The store said 'no receipt, no return'. Is this legal? (the policy is on the back of the receipt..in 6 point text that is very light grey...the only way I could actually read it was to scan it at 300 dpi and zoom in.what nice folks they are.

Answer:
Most places this is perfectly legal.
How does the store know you bought it from them?

Did you pay by credit card or check?
if you did not pay by cash, then your bank can obtain proof in lieu of receipt.
