Are these fair (and legal) detentions?

Ok so well our detentions are pretty much you stay from 3 - 5 after school, but thats not what I'm asking about

At your third detention, you stay after school from 3-5. Then the kids with 3 detentions go on a bus and we go with the principal to the police station. We're then led in and handcuffed behind our backs. Then we're led into our own holding cells, then measure out to like 5' x 5', which is barely enough to sit it. Keep in mind we are still in handcuffs and in our school uniforms. We stay in there from 5:30 - 9:30. Then we can leave when a parent arrives. We are allowed one bathroom break during the whole thing. People say this should scare us from breaking the rules.

But is this fair, or legal?

Answers:
In a society where the teacher has no obligation, or even the motivation to tell little Johnny or Suzie that there is right and wrong behavior (only relevancy), there is no motivation for the children to do right and refrain from wrong behaviors except for the fear of punishment. And once caught you get the same tired answer "But I didn't do anything!"
This is the denial of self responsibility for ones actions, not the affirmation of wrong behavior.
Is a good dose of detention fair? Well, it could just save you some real jail time in later years.
Our parents generation was confronted with the concepts of right and wrong and Good vs Evil in the world...but now you have to maintain society with ever more laws and punishments and an ever increasing expensive legal system that punishes and removes all of those little misbehaving Johnnys and Suzies that weren't ever taught the golden rule at the end of teacher's ruler...(whack!)

The best way to avoid this is to behave yourself. However it does sound a bit like unlawful arrest/restraint. If you havn't committed a CRIME, the police really shouldn't be allowed to arrest you.
Im thinking the parents would have had to give permission for this to happen. No school in their right mind would do that to children without permission from the parents. That would be just asking for a lawsuit.

did you learn your lesson?
Looking at your questions you and your friends are way too into handcuffs.

Why don't you just handcuff me and take me to your room already then!?! You're making me horny.

This story isn't true.
