I have a question about the superior court house in somerville.?

If someone should go with a person they got out of jail with a bale bond, but the person decides not to go. Does that mean the person could go to jail also and not get there bale bond back,, or is it they just don't get their bale bond back?

Answers:
First I have to explain bail and bail bonds. Bail is money posted with the court to insure that a defendant returns at the set court date and time. If the individual does not have the amount of the bail they can go to a bail bondsman who will post the bail if you give him a percentage of the bail amount, usually 10%. The fee is non refundable. It is how the bondsman makes his living. If the person shows up for their court date, the person who posted bail gets it back from the court. That means the bail bondsman is motivated to go find the individual who caused them to lose money and return the individual to jail so he can get his bail money back from the court.

So to answer your question, if you gave money to a bail bondsman to post bail for someone else you will never see that money again no matter what unless the person you helped gives it to you. If that person does not show up to court when they are supposed to you have no more liability. However, the bail bondsman can use whatever means he needs to return that individual to jail. And he is not constrained to the same rules that apply to the police. I hope that helps.
