I pled guilty three years ago to one count of felony theft ($400.00). What is the best way to find a job?

Answers:
Finding and getting a job is two different things. Getting one depends on the stereo typing involved. Followed by the co-workers as well! Then you'll discover that being humble about your past situation is the best policy.

You have all the qualifications of a fine politian

GO for it
I have a felony (and a job) and I have found that it is totally up to the employer's discretion as far as whether or not to hire you. It also depends on where you are trying to work. Since you pled guilty to theft, you won't be able to work anywhere that you would be handling money, credit cards, or other valuable property. The best thing to do is to be honest and humble about your situation, and a potential employer may show a little leniency. But be prepared for rejection. I was more than qualified for the jobs that I applied for, but I was turned down because of my criminal history. Many employers are just not willing to give a felon a second chance, whether it be for personal reasons or business reasons.

Please, please, please do not lie or omit anything about your criminal history. They will find out, and if it comes out that you lied, you have totally disqualified yourself from that position and from any relationship with that company. In this case, honesty is the best policy, and for every handful of employers that do not want to give you a chance, you will find one who will. Good luck to you.
