Please help. I was accused of hit and run?
Hello I'm college freshman.
I went to bowling last night and went to karaoke. suddenly I received a call from my mom that police officer came to our house saying my car hit and run.
I was so surprised, because I never made any crime in my life including speeding or shop lifting.
They said It happened at bowling place.
I came out to see and there was small particle of paint peeled off on the front bumber.
They said I have to go jail for hit and run but he will just give me ticket and have to go to court later.
I'm so scared right now.
looking at the damage my car got its probably either when I was parking or backing out from the parking lot, but I didnt feel a thing.
Also I waited like 1 minute for other 2 girls to come out.
If I knew I hit a car and wanted to run away then I wouldnt have waited for people to see my plate, and just run right away.
The police said there was a witness.
I dont know how this court thing work and what I have to do.
I feel very sorry for the car owner. Money is not big of problem. I'm just scared that they will sattle this case as hit and run.

The most important thing you can do is tell the ENTIRE 100% truth (like if you were drunk, etc.), because the whole truth will come out eventually anyway. If you lie in front of a court and they find out they will be much more likely to convict you.
Also, you definitely need to seek legal help. Check with your parents to see if they have any suggestions for doing so.
So, exactly how drunk were you? Are we talking a light buzz, or were you worshiping the porcelain god? I mean Karaoke? You had to be blitzed.
If it's in a parking lot and no one was injured and the damage was minor, you cannot be put in jail, no way no how -- I don't know why anyone would tell you that. Call your insurance company and tell them what happened. I'm thinking that YOU were the victim of a hit and run and the person that hit you is trying to make it sound like YOU did it.
Unless you were seriously impaired, you would have felt something if you actually backed into someone.
For them to jail you for a hit and run, I would think that there needs to be more damage than some paint getting scratched.
Just get a lawyer, and go talk to the police and try to work it out. I'm sure they don't want to waste any time on a fender-bender and an honest mistake, either.
