How many U.S.cities with 120.000 pop. have a police helicopter unit?

Topeka Kansas(120,000) is discussing whether to maintain a unit. They have told by a mgmt. survey that there are better ways to spend their police budget dollars. Others think that it's a good idea for anecdotal reasons.

I worked as a mechanic for the San Jose (CA) Police Dept and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's helicopters. That is 2 law enforcement helicopters for an area with over 1.6 million people. Depending on the type of helicopter, they can be quite pricy to maintain. I hope Topeka has a big budget to set aside for an aerial unit. Personally, I think a heli unit for that few people seems a bit excessive.

Good question. Oklahoma City, at over 500,000 pop, has only one, though we have an fleet of TV helicopters so that helps in pursuits!
